Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup (95g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: 1/2 cup white chocolate chunks or chips
  • Optional: 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, whisking after each addition.
  3. Stir in cocoa powder, red food coloring, vinegar, and salt. Fold in the flour gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top evenly.
  5. Bake for 22–26 minutes or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft. A toothpick should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
  7. Optional Cream Cheese Swirl: Mix 4 oz cream cheese, 2 tbsp sugar, 1 egg yolk, and 1/4 tsp vanilla. Drop spoonfuls onto the brownie batter and swirl gently with a knife before baking.

Notes

  • Store brownies in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
  • For a richer flavor, use high-quality cocoa powder.
