Easy oven-baked cabbage burgers with ground beef are made by wrapping seasoned beef in tender cabbage leaves and baking them gently for a juicy, comforting, and satisfying home-style meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large green cabbage (12–14 large leaves)
  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (optional, for moisture)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Carefully remove cabbage leaves and blanch them in boiling water for 2–3 minutes until pliable.
  3. Drain the cabbage leaves and pat them dry with a clean towel.
  4. In a bowl, combine ground beef, egg, chopped onion, salt, pepper, and optional seasonings.
  5. Mix gently until just combined, then divide into equal portions.
  6. Place a portion of the beef mixture onto each cabbage leaf and shape into a patty.
  7. Fold the cabbage leaves over the beef to form tight bundles.
  8. Place the cabbage burgers seam-side down in the prepared baking dish.
  9. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 35 minutes.
  10. Remove foil and continue baking for 15–20 minutes until beef is fully cooked.
  11. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
