  • 2 cups (240 g) all-purpose flour sifted to ensure a light texture.
  • 1 ½ cups (300 g) granulated sugar for just the right amount of sweetness.
  • 1 cup (240 ml) orange juice fresh-squeezed if possible for a vibrant flavor.
  • ½ cup (120 ml) vegetable oil can substitute with melted coconut oil for a subtle tropical twist.
  • 3 large eggs room temperature for better mixing.
  • 2 tsp baking powder to help the cake rise beautifully.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract adds a warm depth of flavor.
  • ½ tsp salt to balance the sweetness.
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whipped cream for a luscious frosting that complements the cake perfectly.
  • ½ cup (120 g) powdered sugar for sweetening the frosting without adding graininess.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs, orange juice, oil, and vanilla until combined.
  4. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into two greased 9-inch round cake pans.
  6. Tap the pans gently to release air bubbles.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  9. Whip cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
