Soft, fluffy, and golden vegan cinnamon sugar knots made with plant-based milk, vegan butter, and a sweet cinnamon-sugar filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast
  • ¾ cup warm plant-based milk (almond, soy, or oat)
  • 3 tbsp vegan butter (melted)
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar (for filling)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp melted vegan butter (for filling)
  • Additional cinnamon sugar for coating (½ cup sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon)

Instructions

  1. Warm the plant-based milk to 100–110°F. Add 1 tsp sugar and the yeast. Let it sit until foamy, about 5–10 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the melted vegan butter, sugar, and yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt. Mix until a dough forms. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle, about ¼ inch thick.
  6. Spread melted vegan butter on the dough and sprinkle with the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  7. Fold the dough in half lengthwise, press gently to seal, and cut into 1-inch-wide strips.
  8. Twist each strip twice and tie it into a knot. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 14–18 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Brush warm knots with melted vegan butter and roll in cinnamon sugar before serving.
