  • 6 tablespoons (75 g) granulated sugar (divided)
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup (245 g) whole milk (warmed 105-115°F)
  • 7 tablespoons (99 g) unsalted butter (melted, divided)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 3 ½ cups (444.5 g) bread flour
  • ¼ cup (½ stick/57 g) unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: Combine the warm water with 2 tablespoons of sugar and the yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, salt, and remaining sugar. Beat in the egg.
  3. Add Flour and Yeast: Gradually add bread flour and activated yeast mixture, stirring until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Knead It Out: Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Time to Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Shape Those Rolls: Punch down the dough, divide into pieces, and roll each into a golf ball-sized roll.
  7. Double Rise: Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  8. Preheat the Oven: While rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Bake: Bake rolls for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Make Cinnamon Honey Butter: Beat softened butter, confectioners’ sugar, honey, and cinnamon until smooth.
  11. Serve: Brush warm rolls with remaining melted butter and serve with cinnamon honey butter.
