- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipped cream)
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt; whisk to mix.
- Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture, alternating with milk; stir until just combined.
- Pour the batter into prepared pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes in the pans on a wire rack.
- Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Layer one cake on a serving plate, top with whipped cream and half of the strawberries.
- Add the second cake layer and repeat with more whipped cream and strawberries. Serve and enjoy!
