For the Hot Cocoa:
2 tablespoons hot cocoa powder (unsweetened or sweetened)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar (if using unsweetened cocoa)
1½ cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
For the Marshmallow Whipped Cream:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons marshmallow fluff
1 tablespoon powdered sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional Toppings:
Crushed graham crackers
Chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips
Toasted mini marshmallows
Chocolate syrup drizzle
Instructions
Chill mixing bowl and beaters for 10 minutes. Beat 1 cup cold heavy cream on medium until thickened. Add marshmallow fluff, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Beat to stiff peaks. Refrigerate until needed.
Warm 1½ cups milk in a saucepan over medium heat until steamy (not boiling).
Combine cocoa powder and sugar in a mug. Add a splash of warm milk and stir to form a smooth paste.
Pour in the remaining warm milk while stirring. Add vanilla and a pinch of salt.
Top the hot cocoa generously with the marshmallow whipped cream.
Add crushed graham crackers, chocolate shavings, or toasted marshmallows.
