Ingredients
Scale
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 cups pretzels, crushed
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons milk
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for sauce)
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper to taste (for sauce)
Instructions
Place pretzels in a food processor and pulse until finely crushed. Transfer to a shallow bowl.
Set up a breading station: place flour in one bowl, whisk eggs and 2 tablespoons milk in another bowl, and the crushed pretzels in the third.
Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip into the egg mixture, then press into crushed pretzels to coat well.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken and cook for 4–5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a plate and cover to keep warm.
In a separate saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Whisk in 2 tablespoons of flour and cook for 1 minute.
Gradually whisk in 1 cup milk, cooking until thickened, about 2–3 minutes.
Stir in Dijon mustard and shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve chicken with creamy mustard cheddar sauce on top.
