This Mozzarella Cheese Steak Stromboli is the perfect combination of savory steak, melted cheese, and crispy dough. It’s easy to make, customizable, and a great option for dinner or as an appetizer for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ribeye steak (or flank steak, thinly sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking the steak)
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade dough)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup provolone cheese (optional, for extra cheesiness)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (melted, for brushing the dough)
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce or pizza sauce
  • A pinch of red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced steak, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned, about 4-5 minutes. Add onions and bell peppers, cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add garlic and Italian seasoning, cook for another 30 seconds. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  2. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out pizza dough on a floured surface to form a rectangle (about 12×8 inches).
  3. Layer mozzarella cheese and provolone cheese in the center of the dough. Add the steak mixture on top, spreading it evenly.
  4. Fold in the sides of the dough and roll it up tightly. Pinch the seams to seal, tucking in the ends to prevent the filling from spilling out.
  5. Transfer the stromboli to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush with melted butter and make a few small slits on top to allow steam to escape. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the dough is golden brown and crispy.
  6. Let the stromboli cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with marinara or pizza sauce for dipping, if desired.
