A delightful Mint Chocolate Chip Snowball recipe, perfect for holiday cheer. These cookies offer a sweet, minty, and chocolatey experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 23 drops green food coloring (optional)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the vanilla extract and peppermint extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Stir in the mini chocolate chips. If using, add green food coloring and mix until evenly distributed for a classic mint chocolate chip snowball look.
  6. Cover the dough and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Roll the chilled dough into 1-inch balls.
  9. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
  10. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers should still be soft.
  11. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. Once cool, roll the cookies in powdered sugar for a snowy finish. This completes your mint chocolate chip snowball confection.

Notes

  • For a stronger mint flavor, add an extra 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract.
  • Ensure your butter is truly softened, not melted, for the best cookie texture.
  • Chill the dough sufficiently to prevent the mint chocolate chip snowball cookies from spreading too much during baking.
  • Store the finished mint chocolate chip snowball bites in an airtight container at room temperature.
