Gooey homemade mozzarella sticks with a crispy exterior, perfect for gatherings or comfort food cravings.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (Italian or panko)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Oil for frying
  • Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Cut the mozzarella cheese into sticks about 1 inch wide.
  2. Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and a mixture of breadcrumbs with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and salt.
  3. Dip each mozzarella stick in flour, then egg, and finally press into the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Lay the coated sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for about 30 minutes.
  5. Heat about an inch of oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side.
  7. Remove and let them drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
