Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) cubed beef steak
  • 1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ cup (120 ml) milk
  • 2 cups (480 ml) beef broth
  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare cubed steak, ensuring it’s well-thawed and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dredge each cubed steak in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
  4. Shake off excess flour and set coated steaks aside on a plate.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  6. Add coated cubed steaks in batches, avoiding overcrowding the pan.
  7. Cook each side for 4-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Transfer fried steaks to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
  9. Drain excess oil from the skillet, leaving about 2 tablespoons for flavor.
  10. Reduce heat to medium and sprinkle remaining seasoned flour into the skillet.
  11. Stir constantly for 1-2 minutes until flour is lightly browned to create a roux.
  12. Gradually whisk in beef broth, ensuring there are no lumps, and simmer until thickened.

Notes

  • Serve with mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste.
