These brownies are easy to make and use pantry staples. They are incredibly versatile and deliver crowd-pleasing results every time. Browned butter brings a deep, toasty, caramelized flavor to every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Continue cooking, swirling the pan occasionally, until the butter turns golden brown and gives off a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and browned butter until smooth.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Fold in the white chocolate chips and chopped nuts, if using.
  8. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  9. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  10. Let the blondies cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • Make sure not to burn the butter — it should be golden and aromatic, not dark brown or black.
  • Blondies continue to bake slightly as they cool, so don’t overbake.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
  • You can freeze the blondies for up to 3 months.
