A comforting and delicious apple pie made with tender, spiced apples and a golden, flaky store-bought crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package store-bought pie crusts (2 crusts)
  • 6 to 8 medium apples (such as Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish.
  3. Peel, core, and slice the apples into a large bowl.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice, then pour this mixture over the apples.
  5. Toss the apples until they are well-coated in the mixture.
  6. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust and dot with butter.
  7. Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the filling. Trim and crimp the edges to seal the pie.
  8. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30-40 minutes.
  10. Let cool before serving.
